JMM 2009 Exhibition of Mathematical Art, Third Prize: Robert Fathauer’s “Twice Iterated Knot No. 1” starts with a nine-crossing knot that has been carefully arranged to allow for seamless iteration. The end result is a complex knot possessing self similarity.
