Strategic Planning Reports

In January 2005, the Board of Governors voted to initiate continuous strategic planning. On a regular basis, the Board of Governors approves several areas for study under the direction of an appointed working group. Each of these Working Groups reports back to the Board in two years. In a span of approximately five years, each area of MAA activity will be studied and actions taken.

In their final reports, Working Groups discuss the evaluation and analysis of the issues in their specific area and make suggestions for improvement and innovation. The recommendations contained in the final reports below have been sent to the appropriate MAA committees and staff members for further study and implementation as appropriate. In the strategic planning process, the decisions on feasibility and the setting of priorities for implementation of the recommendations fall to the Executive Committee and the MAA Board of Governors on the advice of these committees and MAA staff members.  In the process, some recommendations may require considerable time to implement, some may be modified or ultimately rejected, and others may be implemented quickly.

The topics currently under review as part of Cycle III of Strategic Planning are Meetings and Periodicals & Communications.
