Francis Edward Su

Francis Edward Su is a Professor of Mathematics at Harvey Mudd College and earned his Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1995. He has published over 25 papers in geometric combinatorics, combinatorial topology, and applications to the game theory and the social sciences. Half of these papers have been co-authored with undergraduates. He has held visiting positions at Caltech, MSRI, and Cornell. He has served on many committees within the MAA and AMS; he recently finished a term on the Council of the AMS and began a term as First Vice-President of the MAA.

Francis also has a passion for teaching and popularizing mathematics. From the Mathematical Association of America, he received the 2001 Merten M. Hasse Prize for expository writing, the 2004 Henry L. Alder Award for distinguished teaching, and was the 2006 James R.C. Leitzel Lecturer. He is on the editorial board of the American Mathematical Monthly, and is an alumnus of Project NExT. In his spare time he enjoys working on his "Math Fun Facts" website, which receives over a million hits each year.
