By action of the Board of Governors [MathFest 2004], all committee members are to be reminded of the following:

Recommendation: That this be added to every committee appointment letter:

The good name of the Association should be foremost in your mind as you go about your duties as a committee member. Please read the enclosed document, Avoiding Implicit Bias, as well as the Association's conflict of interest policy at http://www.maa.org/aboutmaa/handbook/cfi_policy.html. If any situation arises that might be perceived as a conflict of interest, recuse yourself and inform the Secretary immediately without expressing any opinion on the matter under consideration.
