Graduating in 2006 from the
University of Alaska Southeast, my degree in Mathematics has truly
helped me achieve where I am today. Working toward a PhD in Atmospheric
Sciences at the University of California, Davis, I utilize my
mathematical skills daily. An understanding of the atmosphere requires
the derivation and interpretation of complex equations that describe
the fluid motion of gases, heat transfer, radiation, chemical
interactions and reactions, and much more. Thus, I have relied on the
skills I acquired working toward my undergraduate degree in
Mathematics. These skills not only include those in computation, but
even more importantly problem solving skills necessary to approach
challenging problems both systematically and with creativity. |
