Career Profiles

A background in the mathematical sciences is useful for a wide variety of careers.  Please see left-side navigation to explore career profiles grouped by discipline. These profiles provide practical answers to the question: "Why should I study math?" Most of those profiled use mathematics on a daily basis, while others rely on the general problem solving skills acquired in their mathematics courses. There is also a brochure available with select profiles.

Please note that some profiles are listed more than once, due to the exciting and diverse natures of these people's careers. All information is current as of the time of writing, and some profiles are listed in categories in which the person previously worked, but no longer does.

This information is provided as part of the AMS-MAA-SIAM Mathematical Sciences Career Information Project.
