Some Programming Challenges

Beef up the applet:

We think our interactive applet is very nice, but surely it's not the ultimate wallpaper applet. You are welcome to have the Java code . Surely there's a way to make it run faster. Also, greater interactivity would be a plus, allowing the user to change the size of the image and select different color models.

Better color models:

We outlined a few ways of picturing wallpaper functions , but we doubt we have hit on every interesting possibility.

Wallpaper with wavelets:

Probably the fastest way to construct wallpaper functions is to use a basis of wavelet functions, rather than our sines and cosines.
