There's a simpler set of rules that have a simpler glider. The rules are: All live cells die. A dead cell with exactly two neighbors becomes alive.
The gliders in the Game of Life alternate between four different
shapes. In these new rules, there is only one shape. [Actually,
there are eight.] |
|
Two cells spawn two gliders. When two gliders collide, they become four. When four collide the multiplication continues. Be careful with the spacing and the dance can continue indefinitely. |

Unlike the Game of Life, these new rules don't have any stable structures; if all live cells die, stability is impossible. There are a few gliders and a few blinkers. In general, the world is unstable. Collisions usually lead to mutual destruction or chaos that consumes the world. |
