Liaison Bulletin – May 2009

Early Bird Registration for MathFest ends this Friday, May 15!

In the next day or two, you should receive this month's MAA Math Alert, which will mention the deadline to register for MathFest at the Early Bird rate.

However, since not all MAA members have a valid email address on file, we hope that you'll help get the word out and remind your colleagues to register for MathFest 2009. We also hope that your colleagues who are not members will consider attending as well.

Need more reasons to join us in Portland?

The 2009 Bite of Oregon, the state's premier culinary festival, will be held on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, August 7-9, immediately across the street from the headquarters hotel on the banks of the Willamette River. The festival features food, wine and beer from across Oregon, as well as music on multiple stages.

Still not convinced? Check out Frugal Portland, a travel feature from the May 10 NY Times. Note that the “First Thursday” Gallery Walk Gallery Walk will be on Thursday, August 6, during MathFest 2009!

Still Time to Register for PREP

In addition to registering for MathFest, please note that three MAA PREP workshops will be held in conjunction with MathFest. Workshops held in conjunction with MathFest offer all the benefits of an on-site workshop, while allowing participants to economize on expenses by combining their PREP participation with their travel to MathFest. These workshops will be held in conjunction with MathFest:

And, as an added incentive, we're offering all 2009 PREP participants a $50.00 discount on MathFest registration. For details and to learn about all of this year's workshops, visit the 2009 PREP website.
