Join MAA on a tour that explores Italy?s mathematical history and meet its present-day rising stars in
the field of mathematics and science. Discover where the great minds such as Joseph-Louis Lagrange,
Giovanni Benedetti, and Amedeo Avogadro lived and worked and enjoy guided visits to top university
mathematics departments and discussions with faculty. We hope you can join us on this custom trip,
designed especially for MAA members.
- Take a private guided walking tour of Turin, calling in at the city?s most significant mathematics related sights, including the Academy of Science and the university?s Department of Mathematics.
- Attend an exclusive talk given by Salvatore Coen, professor in the Department of Mathematics at
the University of Bologna. Visit the library, one of the largest in Europe and housing significant mathematical
works.
- View the original volume of algebra by Bombelli.
- Explore Florence?s duomo, the Uffizi Gallery, and the Gardens of Archimedes: A Museum
for Mathematics.
- Tour the Museo Galileo, home to the only surviving instruments designed and built by Galileo
himself, and visit the observatory in Arcetri.
- Discover Rome?s ancient Coliseum and Forum, as well as the Pantheon. See the Sistine Chapel
in Vatican City and visit the Vatican Museum.
- Enjoy time for independent explorations - your hotels are conveniently located in city centers.
