    Prove it again, Sam

Mathematicians agree; a good theorem deserves a good proof. Or even two or three of them. Why do we like to prove things twice? Does it make them truer? Or better? We'll answer this question by showing yet again that Euler's result, $e^{i\theta} = \cos \theta + i \sin \theta$, is one of the most wonderful results in mathematics. It's so nice, we'll prove it twice. Or even three times.

The Shape of the Gateway Arch: A Mathematical Detective Story

An attempt to answer simple questions about the shape of the Gateway Arch in St. Louis has led along a number of intriguing paths, both mathematical and historical. Several of those will be recounted here.
