General Deadlines for Organizers and Speakers
This page is designed to inform members of the Mathematical Association of America and others interested in collegiate level mathematics of meetings of interest to them. As often as possible these meetings are linked to a web page with additional information about the meeting. If no link has been established, then the only information we have about the meeting is given in this list.
To help you find the meetings that are of the most interest to you, the following links provide information about MAA Meetings, national and sectional, deadlines and guidelines for proposing a session at a national meeting.

- JMM Deadlines
- CPS Organizers – Last Friday in December 13 months prior to JMM
- Minicourse Organizers – Last Tuesday in December 13 months prior to JMM
- Workshop, Panel and Poster Session Organizers – Second Tuesday of April in year preceding JMM
- Invited Paper Session Organizers – Last Tuesday in January in year preceding JMM
- Abstracts for all speakers – Third Tuesday in September in year preceding JMM
- Requests for SIGMAA Sessions, including business meetings and receptions, and any other sessions that do not fall within the above categories should be directed no later than the second Tuesday of April in year preceding JMM to MAA Associate Secretary Gerard Venema.
- MathFest Deadlines
- CPS Organizer – Second Friday in October in year preceding MF
- Minicourse Organizers – Second Tuesday in October in the year preceding MathFest
- Workshop, Panel and Poster Session Organizers – First Tuesday in December in year preceding MathFest
- Invited Paper Session Organizers – First Tuesday in October in year preceding MathFest
- Abstracts for all speakers – First of May in year of MathFest
- Requests for SIGMAA Sessions, including business meetings and receptions, and any other sessions that do not fall within the above categories should be directed no later than the last day of the Joint Mathematics Meetings immediately preceding MathFest to MAA Associate Secretary Gerard Venema.

Policy on Commercial Promotion
While some presenters in a session will have presentations whose format and content relies on or relates to information in a commercially-available product, such as a book or authored software, the promotion of such products in a minicourse or panel session is not appropriate. Participants in a successful minicourse or panel session naturally will want to know more about the materials referenced, but the session may not be used to promote any particular product.Notice of MAA Policy for Interviews at the National Meetings
The MAA recognizes the important role that our national meetings play in the hiring process, both for those seeking jobs and for departments. Especially for those on the job market, the application and interview process can be a stressful time, and it may be awkward for applicants to express their desire to modify the setting in a situation that they feel is less than ideal. Therefore, the MAA Board of Governors has adopted the following policy:
“The MAA strongly discourages the use of personal hotel sleeping rooms as the site for professional interviews of prospective employees. This practice is intimidating for some job-seekers, particularly those who find the situation uncomfortable and possibly unsafe.”
