I am not at all satisfied that the traditional lecture-homework-test format with which I am most comfortable is the best way to learn mathematics.

Generically speaking, the most challenging aspect of teaching mathematics is stimulating genuine interest on the part of the students.

10. What benefits do you anticipate from attending this workshop?

11. What indications can you give of support from your institution? This might include such things as travel to the workshop, time to work on your intervening year project, etc.

Deadline for applications is February 8, 2002. Notification on selection of participants will be made by March 4, 2002. Selection of participants will be based on a judgement of the maximum benefit to the preparation of future teachers.

A fee of $750 for room, board and tuition for the two summers is payable after notification of acceptance.
