MAA President Joseph A. Gallian will be honored at the Communicating Mathematics conference in his hometown of Duluth, Minn., to be held July 16-19, 2007. The conference will recognize Gallian's many professional contributions, as well as help celebrate his 65th birthday.
The purpose of the Communicating Mathematics conference is to inspire research productivity, collaborations, and enthusiasm among mathematicians in all areas, at all stages of their careers. The conference will include accessible invited lectures delivered by experts to communicate research ideas in a wide variety of mathematical fields. A half-day field trip to Gooseberry Falls State Park and recognition of the 30th anniversary of the Duluth Research Experience for Undergraduates in mathematics will also be a part of the program.
