Starting immediately, students will be receiving email alerts when new issues of MAA FOCUS, the bimonthly newsmagazine of the Mathematical Association of America, become available. Each alert will provide links to individual articles in that issue (in pdf format), or readers can opt to download the entire issue to your computer. This e-version of the magazine will take the place of the print edition that some subscribers received by mail in the past.
We are making the change for two reasons. First, we have found that students prefer to receive information electronically and are very comfortable accessing content online. Second, the MAA is aiming to "go green" whenever possible. This effort not only aids the environment and reduces waste but also cuts costs to help keep your membership dues as low as possible.
As time goes by, we expect to offer more and more of our periodicals and other materials in a digital format. At the same time, we also plan to improve our offerings by tapping into the many advantages that electronic formats offer over print.
