DoE to Establish

“What Works Clearinghouse”

The US Department of Education has chosen the Campbell Collaboration of Philadelphia and the American Institutes for Research to establish a national clearinghouse to collect evidence on the effectiveness of various educational programs and projects. The goal of the What Works Clearinghouse is to collect “the best available research evidence” about programs, products and strategies used in education. The goal is to provide educators and education decision-makers with solid data that can inform their choices. The creation of the clearinghouse is an attempt to implement a portion of the “No Child Left Behind Act” that requires school districts to use “scientifically based research” to support their curricular decisions.
