Math Awareness Month 2007: Mathematics and the Brain
April is Mathematics Awareness Month. This year, the theme is Mathematics and the Brain, highlighting the importance of mathematics in modern neuroscience.
Fully understanding the human brain and its mechanisms is one of the most exciting challenges in modern science. Mathematical models, in particular, play a central role in understanding brain cells, their interactions, and their functions. Information about this year's theme and the Math Awareness Month (MAM) poster are available at the MAM website at http://www.mathaware.org/.
The Joint Policy Board for Mathematics encourages colleges and universities to organize events around this year's MAM theme and provides resources for such activities at the MAM website.
