A Mathematician Who Can Manage People

The New York Times profiles the world's 93rd richest person, mathematician and philanthropist James H. Simons.

Founder and funder of Math for America, winner of the prestigious Oswald Veblen Prize, and the man behind successful hedge fund Renaissance Technologies, Simons gives widely to advance basic research and get youngsters hooked on math.

Neuroscientist Marc Tessier-Lavigne says of Simons: "He’s an individual of enormous talent and accomplishment, yet he’s completely unpretentious."
