Chaos Ball Raises Money for MoMath
A fundraiser for the National Museum of Mathematics garnered $830,000 and coverage in the Wall Street Journal.
The headliner of the so-called Chaos Ball was actor and science enthusiast Alan Alda, while other noteworthy guests included James Simons, Brian Greene, and Stephen Wolfram.
Attendees created a fractal, received 3-D printed trinkets from MoMath mathematician-in-residence Laura Taalman, and watched as the centerpieces were revealed to be part of an experiment about chaos theory.
