Does the Group Have a Personality?

Mathematics postdoc Luke Wolcott and philosopher of mathematics Alexandra Van Quynh are "interested in the mental imagery, metaphors, and narratives that mathematicians use to understand and work with groups," and they've developed a survey to illicit the insights they're after.

Wolcott writes:

Our working assumption is that this internal experience [of working with groups] differs significantly from the formal manifestations of groups that appear in math literature, that it is subjective but that there are commonalities among mathematicians.
