Fractal-like Patterns Form the Basis of Dmitry Kormann's Music

Dmitry Kormann, a composer-keyboardist from São Paulo, Brazil, specializes in a recursive approach to musical compositions, including detailed examples of structural scaling. In Kormann's music, his fractal patterns present a special treat for listeners.

In one composition centering on the Fractal Würfelspiel, he said, "This finished structure alternates with another of identical proportions throughout the piece. The pitches were left mostly unaltered, and it is the variation of color and orchestration that drives the piece forwards."
