HPN Offers $3 million Grand Prize for Predictive Algorithm
April 19, 2011
The Heritage Provider Network (HPN) announced a competition to develop a predictive algorithm that can identify patients who will be admitted to the hospital using historical claims data.
According to HPN:
“To achieve its goal of developing a breakthrough algorithm that uses available patient data to predict and prevent unnecessary hospitalizations, HPN is sponsoring the Heritage Health Prize Competition (the “Competition”). HPN believes that incentivized competition is the best way to achieve the radical breakthroughs necessary to begin fixing America’s health care system.”
The competition officially started on April 4, 2011, and runs until April 3, 2013. In addition to the $3 million grand prize, six Milestone prizes totalling $230,000 will be awarded during competition intervals.
