Sally Wins Inaugural Impact Award

The late Paul J. Sally Jr. has won the inaugural AMS Award for Impact on the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics.

Established in 2013 to honor the mathematician or mathematicians who has made significant contributions of lasting value to mathematics education, the Award for Impact on the Teaching and Learning of Mathematics gives priority to those who have worked with precollege teachers or expended effort toward improving the mathematics education of students in the first two years of college.

Beginning in the 1960s, Paul Sally founded outreach programs that benefitted both middle/high school students and their teachers.
