Scientists Debate Origins of Math
To explore the origins of mathematics and why it matters, the Kavli Foundation held a roundtable discussion with two physicists, a neuroscientist, and a cognitive scientist.
The conversation between Brian Butterworth, Simeon Hellerman, Rafael Núñez, and Max Tegmark covered a lot of ground, everything from the numeracy of guppies to 103-sided polygons to the claim that "understanding the origins of math will help us understand human nature better."
