University Hosts First Annual Math Day

On March 8, 2011, Pacific University welcomed high school students from the greater Portland area to campus for its first Math Day.  

Sarah Greenwald (Appalachian State University) was the keynote speaker for the event. Her talk "Mathematical Tidbits from Futurama and The Simpsons" focused on the intersection of mathematics and popular culture. 

Other invited speakers included Charles Dunn (Linfield College), Naiomi Cameron (Lewis and Clark College), Cheryl Beaver (Western Oregon University), and Rob Beezer (Puget Sound University).
