Zoltan Dienes Dead at 97

Hungarian-born mathematician Zoltan Dienes, who believed in using games, songs, and dance to make learning math more fun for children, died in January at the age of 97.

Dienes, whose work earned him honorary degrees from University of Caen, in France; University of Siena, in Italy; University of Pecs, in Hungary; Mount Allison University, in Sackville, N.S.; and University of Exeter, in England, was fond of saying "Give me a mathematical structure and I’ll turn it into a game."
