MAA Looks for a New Associate Treasurer
MAA President Paul Zorn has created a search committee charged with recommending a new associate treasurer to the Board. Rick Cleary completes his term in that position at the end of January 2013. If you would like to suggest a candidate or would like to be considered yourself, please contact the chair of the search committee, Lloyd Douglas, by email (ledougl2@uncg.edu) by May 1. The Associate Treasurer, who serves for one or two five-year terms, chairs the Budget Committee. The Budget Committee is responsible for presenting an annual budget to the Executive Committee and to the Board.

Call for Suggestions for the Mary P. Dolciani Award
The Dolciani Halloran Foundation is pleased to announce the establishment of the Mary P. Dolciani Award to recognize a research mathematician in pure or applied mathematics who is making a distinguished contribution to the mathematical education of K-16 students. The first of these awards is to be given at MathFest 2012, upon recommendation by a committee of MAA members appointed by the President, Paul Zorn; the committee's recommendation is to be approved by the Board of Governors. Send names of those who should be considered for the Mary P. Dolciani Award to the MAA secretary's assistant, Julie Forster, (forstejm@westminster.edu) and she will forward the information to the committee. Please include a short discussion of the reasons behind your recommendation.

Math Teachers' Circles Workshops

The American Institute of Mathematics (AIM) announces two workshops for teams of mathematicians and teachers who are interested in beginning their own Math Teachers' Circle. For more details and to apply, please clickhere.


AMC Contests
The MAA's 2012 AMC 10 and AMC 12 contests were administered toover 210,000high school students worldwide in February. About 11,000 high-scoring students will be invited to compete in the second-level American Invitational Math Exam, held in March, on the way to the USA Mathematical Olympiad. Watch for results and statistics for all the AMC contests on theAMC webpage.

International Summer School for Young Students
This summer school is an introduction to mathematical research topics for international students at the age of transition between high school and university. The 2012 edition will take place in Lyon, France. The application deadline is March 31, 2012.More information here.
