AMC 8
The AMC 8, the MAA's math contest for middle school students, grades 8 and below, takes place on Tuesday,November15. A total of 2,506 schools have registered for the AMC 8 this year, ordering 152,660 contest booklets. California has the largest number of registered schools at 289! AMC 8 results and statistics will be available on theAMC webpage, starting onNovember22.

Application Deadlines for the MAA Grant Programs
Deadlines for the MAA grant programs are approaching. Please checkDolciani Mathematics Enrichment Grants,Women in Math, andUnderrepresented Minorities in Math(applications due February 12, 2012), as well asNational Research Experience for Undergraduates Program(applications due February 24, 2012) for application details.

JMM 2013 Deadlines Approaching
It's not too late to propose a session for the Joint Mathematics Meetings in San Diego, but be aware that the deadlines are coming up very soon. Submissions for Contributed Paper Sessions are due December 30, 2011. Submissions for Minicourses are due December 27, 2011. Submissions for Panels, Workshops, and Poster Sessions are due April 10, 2012. All MAA members are encouraged to consider submitting proposals for sessions. Guidelines and instructions may be foundhere.

New Sales Tax Policy
Effective December 1, 2011, MAA is required to collect sales tax if customers' books or merchandise are being shipped to: DC, NE, or MD. If you are a re-seller or an entity that is sales tax exempt, contact the MAA customer service center at800-331-1622.
