U.S. IMO Team Arrives in Hanoi

Steve Dunbar, director of the American Mathematics Competition, has reported that the U.S. IMO team arrived safely "and with our luggage" in Hanoi, about 5:00 am (local time) on July 23. The team had a layover in Beijing since July 19. The 2007 IMO competition is slated to run from July 25-26. Results are expected by July 30.

"Everyone," said Dunbar, "is still in good health and good spirits, and I can tell that attention is starting to turn toward the IMO."

The team members are staying at the La Thanh Hotel. "We have air-conditioning in the rooms," said Dunbar, "which is good, since it is 30 C and very humid. So far, I can tell you that from the road here at least, Vietnam is very, very green, and appears clean and interesting, and does not look at all like Beijing. Everyone is friendly and at least with the IMO staff and in the hotel, English is available."
