USA Mathematical OlympiadThe USA Mathematical Olympiad (USAMO) is a six-question, two day, nine-hour essay/proof examination. All problems can be solved with pre-calculus methods. The USAMO is the final round of the American Math Competition series of contests. Only the 270 top scoring AMC 12 participants are invited to take participate in the olympiad. The twelve top scoring USAMO students are invited to a two-day Olympiad Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C. The event is held at the U.S. Department of State and sponsored by the MAA and the Akamai Foundation. Top scorers of the USA Mathematical Olympiad attend the Mathematical Olympiad Summer Program (MOSP), an intensive training program for exceptional high school students held at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. The six-member team to represent the U.S. at the International Mathematical Olympiad is selected during MOSP. |
