Summary:
Historically, chemists have used graphs to model molecules. With the advent of the computer, graph theory became the mainstay of theoretical computer science since graphs are utilized as models of data structures. In this workshop we return to the idea of graphs as a tool to model molecules; however we focus on the molecules of living organisms such as secondary RNA and protein structures and tertiary protein structures. We combine the techniques of classical chemical graph theory with the more modern graph-theoretical analysis of discrete structures.
