Summary:
We will focus on the topic of discrete mathematical applications in modeling DNA, RNA and protein structures. In particular, we will concentrate on graph-theoretic applications of DNA sequencing, models of secondary RNA structure and protein structure prediction. The development of novel methodology and new technologies have allowed the identification of many new biomolecular structures which have been deposited in data banks. We find that mathematics, graph theory in particular, is playing an important role in the quantification and classification of proteins.
