Title:
Riordan Matrices with Applications to RNA Sequences
Director:

Dates of
Program: July 6 - August 14, 2009
Summary:
In this project, students will study certain RNA sequences related to the HIV-1 molecule and use lattice walks modeled by Riordan matrices to predict more stable RNA secondary structures. The set of all Riordan matrices forms a non-commutative group call the Riordan group. To understand the application to RNA, it will be necessary for the students to be introduced to the Riordan group and combinatorial objects called lattice walks.
