Summary: Graph pebbling will
be the topic for the 2005 MAA-SUMMA REU at California Lutheran
University. Students will conduct research on a problem they
determine or chosen from among the following:
1. Investigate
the relationship between the girth of a graph and the graph’s pebbling
number.
2. Explore
whether the Kneser graphs of diameter at least three are of Class 0,
i.e. whether their pebbling numbers are equal to the sizes of their
vertex sets.
3. Determine optimal pebbling
numbers for families of graphs.
