The MAA and the NCTM Standards

This website is a report on the interaction of the MAA with NCTM concerning the NCTM Standards. The first part is a brief history of the interaction up to 1996. Since many people want to know just what the MAA's first "endorsement" was about, the report begins with the relevant minutes of the January 1989 meeting of the MAA Board of Governors. This is followed by commentary from the agenda of that meeting. Events leading up to the formation of the MAA President's Task Force on the MAA Standards, its charge and its membership are given. Its primary charge is to respond to questions and issues posed by the NCTM Commission on the Future of the Standards.
