in improving the mathematical education of teachers. All
applications
received 3 independent reviews from PMET leadership and Regional
Directors.
Due to the high quality of the competition, we were unable to fund all
the submitted proposals. Applicants were eligible to re-submit in later
solicitations. Summaries of the funded projects were posted to
the
PMET web site to show the strengths which PMET was looking for in
submitted
proposals. The
first solicitation
of PMET mini-grants in 2003 produced 40 applications from colleges and
universities
in 23 states, requesting far more than the
amount
budgeted for these awards. Twenty-six (26) projects were awarded and
funded in this round of
PMET
mini-grants. The
second solicitation
of PMET mini-grants in the fall of 2004 produced 38 applications, 32 of
which were accepted and funded. Amount of individual awards ranged
from$2,500 up to $4,000 for a total of over $200,000 over the life of
the PMET Mini-grant Program. Most projects lasted up to two years and
the progress of each supported project was monitored by one of the PMET
leaders or Regional Directors.
There will not be another solicitation for PMET Mini-grant Proposals. |
