As the process of integrating mathematics and biology gains momentum, it has become clear that, now that people are convinced of the need to bring mathematics and biology together, we need to focus more on "how" to achieve this integration.
In coordination with the Shodor Education Foundation, this workshop will focus on making this integration process easier and more seamless by identifying, evaluating, and developing materials that can be inserted into standard courses in mathematics and biology without disrupting the flow of the course.
During the course of the workshop, participants will:
Materials produced will have the opportunity for submission to the National Science Digital Library (http://NSDL.org) through the Computational Science Reference Desk (http://www.shodor.org/refdesk/) as a reference for biology and mathematical science faculty wishing to integrate biology, mathematics, and computer science in their classrooms.
Participants co-enrolling with a partner biologist will be given priority. Attendees of our previous workshops are especially welcome.
