Mathematical Treasure: Commandino’s Archimedes

Frederico Commandino (1509-1575) was an Italian mathematician and humanist. He produced some of the first European translations and commentaries on the works of classical Greek mathematicians. His Complete Works of Archimedes appeared in 1558.

On pages 18-19, Archimedes discussed the quadrature of the parabola.
