Author(s):
Frank J. Swetz (The Pennsylvania State University)

In his Der Barycentrische Calcul (The Calculus of Centers of Gravity), published in 1827, the German mathematician August Ferdinand Möbius (1790-1868) developed a geometric model for calculus. He employed an algebraic approach to points in geometric space.
