One-D Spectral Tools (Fourier and Wavelet)

These activities and accompanying Java applets demonstrate the spectral (frequency-space) representation of data (signals) using the Fourier or wavelet base functions. The applets allow manual manipulation of the data in spectral or time domain and observation of the effects of these changes in the transform-space. These tools are useful for understanding signal denoising, thresholding and compression.  The activities below include links to the relevant Java applets:
