Trans-Canada Pipeline Arch

The sculpture pictured above is known as the Trans-Canada Pipeline Arch, by Paul Kipps and Colette Whiten, and was built in collaboration with architects A. J. Diamond, Tony Griffin, Donald Schmitt, and Frances Schmitt, of Toronto-based Diamond + Schmitt Architects Inc. It was originally used as the official entrance to the Athlete's Village at the University of Calgary during the 1988 Winter Olympics, but was later displayed in front of Calgary City Hall, before being returned to the University of Calgary campus in 1991 for the university's 25th anniversary.

This photo was taken by David Wagner of the University of New Brunswick.
