Ideas of Calculus in Islam and India

Article shows how Newton's ideas of finding formulas for areas under curves and of using infinite series to represent functions were anticipated in 11th century Egypt and 16th century India by, respectively, al-Haytham's computation of the volume of a paraboloid and Jyesthadeva's calculuation of infinite series for trigonometric functions.
