Description:
Students in basic mathematics courses need innovative approaches to foster learning of fundamental concepts and skills. Explorations drawn from workplace contexts can engage students and provide a new beginning for their study.

This workshop is designed for faculty and administrators who are able to effect change in their developmental mathematics programs. The focus is on key issues related to implementing a new approach:

  • changing curriculum and pedagogy,
  • feasibility of structural changes,
  • addressing roadblocks to change, and
  • retention and assessment of student progress.
