Phyllis Chinn and Dale Oliver
July 15 – 20, 2012
Arcata, California

Registration Fee: $225 per person/$350 per team of two ($300 and $500 respectively for registrations received after June 3, 2012)

Participants will explore the changes represented by the Common Core State Standards (CCSS), particularly related to the Standards for Mathematical Practice (SMP), and consider how best to integrate CCSS in their classes for future and practicing K-8 teachers. The summer portion of the program will be held on the beautiful campus of Humboldt State University in the heart of the redwoods. Participants will engage in hands-on, collaborative learning experiences in mathematics that involve the SMP, and develop and analyze related experiences for prospective and current K-8 teachers. The workshop is designed for mathematics faculty who have some experience working with pre-service or in-service K-8 teachers. Ideally, participants are from states that have adopted the CCSS.
