Title: The Riordan Group and Applications to RNA Secondary Structure & Base-Point Mutations
Director: Asamoah Nkwanta
Email: asamoah.nkwanta@morgan.edu
Dates of Program: June 6 - July 15, 2011
Summary: The focus of this summer project is to introduce undergraduate mathematics students to undergraduate research centered on properties of the Riordan group with applications to RNA secondary structure from molecular and computational biology. The students will study and research basic concepts, properties, and applications of the Riordan group. The application will be to computational biology and involves using elements of the Riordan group to model RNA secondary structures with base-point mutations.
