About the Author: (from The American Mathematical Monthly, vol. 85 (1978)) Bradley Efron received his Ph.D. in Statistics from Stanford in 1964 under the direction of Rupert Miller. He holds professorships at Stanford in both the Statistics Department and the Department of Preventive Medicine. His interests cover most of theoretical and applied statistics, with special emphasis on the application of geometrical methods to statistical problems.
