About the Author(s): (from The American Mathematical Monthly, vol. 94, (1987)) Steven G. Krantz was born in San Francisco and raised in Redwood City, California, in the San Francisco Bay area. He was an undergraduate at the University of California at Santa Cruz and a graduate student at Princeton University where he wrote his dissertation under the direction of E.M. Stein.
