Linear
Approximation Book Description:
Linear
Approximation is the simplest way of approximating the value
of a function by using a bare minmum of conditions. This
method is also the simplest way of interpolating data. The
method depends upon using the value (f(a)) and rate of change
(derivative) at the point x = a to approximate value of
f(c), where c is in close proximity of a. Graphically, this
method approximates the value of the function at a point
by replacing the curve by a tangent to it at a nearby point.
