MAA Reviews is edited by Fernando Q. Gouvêa, who relies on an immense batallion of faithful reviewers and on the help of the MAA's Basic Library List Committee. And, of course, on you: please visit our page describing the ways you can help MAA Reviews.

Fernando Gouvêa was born in Brazil, educated at the Universidade de São Paulo and at Harvard, and lives in Waterville, ME, where he is Carter Professor of Mathematics at Colby College. His main scholarly interests are in number theory and the history of mathematics. He is the author (or co-author) of five mathematics books, with more to come, and he was co-editor of a sixth. Fernando was the editor of MAA FOCUS, the newsmagazine of the MAA, from 1999 to 2010.

Fernando has a wide range of interests, and is fond of describing himself as "Christian, orthodox, Brazilian, American, conservative, husband, father, Lutheran, sunday school teacher, science fiction fan, dog owner, mathematics educator, author, editor, reader, bibliophile, singer, wine geek, perfumista, adoptive Mainer, historian wannabe, and the proud possessor of a graying scraggly beard." He has a a range of obsessions that flare up then return to semi-dormant state, ranging from mathematics to old books, typesetting, perfume, wine, theology, (classical) music, poetry, classical literature, and science fiction.
