HISTORY and PEDAGOGY of MATHEMATICS


The HPM Americas Section will meet this spring in Atlanta during the
NCTM national meeting. HPM will meet in the Hazelnut Room, M3 North
Tower at the Omni Hotel at CNN Center from 5 to 7 p.m on Friday, March
23 2007. There will be several talks on topics of broad interest in the
history of mathematics and its uses in classrooms, with particular
attention to K-12 classrooms.

This session will be dedicated to Karen Dee Michalowicz.

The first four talks will be brief, less than ten minutes each.

Henry S. Kempner, President-Elect of the NCTM, has expressed the hope of
joining us. He may briefly address the group.

After the meeting, those who are so inclined will continue the
discussions in a more relaxed vein at a local restaurant.
